Use Your Voice
In 2023, I began hearing the still, small voice of the Lord whisper: Use your voice. At first, it was quiet, but it grew louder and louder. I was walking through one of the most difficult seasons of my life, a journey of deep emotional healing. And every time a lie from the enemy was stripped away, that command became clearer: Use your voice.

That June, my family took a month-long sabbatical from ministry. We packed up our camper and slowly made our way from Iowa to the Oregon coast. The farther we traveled from home, the quieter the weight of daily responsibilities became—and the louder the voice of the Lord grew. I started that journey burdened with pain, but by the end… I could breathe again. And the healing didn’t stop there. By September, that still, small voice had become an undeniable roar: USE YOUR VOICE.

Even though I am an ordained minister, I don’t preach often. Unless I know that I have a word from the Lord, I don’t enjoy the process of preparing a message. I am a writer—my words flow effortlessly at the keyboard, but when spoken aloud, they stumble… until the anointing comes. When I surrender my heart and my voice to God, He speaks through me in ways I never could on my own.

I told my husband about the word I had received. I knew I had to set a date to preach—because if I didn’t, I wouldn’t follow through.
For years, even while working in ministry and helping others find freedom, the enemy had been stealing my voice—bit by bit, lie by lie. But every lie that was stripped away and replaced with God’s truth restored strength to my voice.

The battle for our voices is a battle for our identity and influence.
I know what it’s like to be broken, to stay quiet, to keep to myself—believing that my thoughts, my experiences, and my words didn’t matter. That they weren’t good enough to be spoken.
But here’s the truth: My voice is unique, and so is yours.
Did you know that God created our voices with their own fingerprints? Just as no two people have identical fingerprint patterns, no two voices are exactly the same. Your voice is a personal identifier, divinely designed.
Think of those action movies where high-security vaults can only be unlocked by a specific voice. Metaphorically speaking, the same is true in life.
Your unique voice—your story, your struggles, your victories—has the power to unlock healing for others in a way no one else’s can.
One person hearing your testimony could be the key to their breakthrough. There is power in sharing your story. There is power in speaking—not just for others, but for yourself. When you bring your experiences into the light, they can no longer be used by the enemy to keep you feeling small, insignificant, and silent.

That Sunday in September, I stepped up to the microphone and surrendered my heart and my voice to God. I preached for two hours. Two hours. I shared my testimony. I spoke the Word. I prayed over people. And the same vessel that once felt inadequate was now boldly declaring truth, allowing God to use my voice to bring healing to others. Many came forward for prayer. Many found healing.
Don’t let the enemy steal your voice.
He will try to keep you broken, bound, and believing lies. But your voice matters.
God created you perfectly and uniquely. Submit your heart to Him. Let Him heal the hurting places. Let Him transform your life.
A life submitted to the lies of the enemy will keep you small, anxious, and suppressed.
A life submitted to the truth of the Lord will set you free, fulfill you, and lead you into your purpose.
It’s time. Use your voice.
Very well said!
